GOOD NEWS: Gov’t employees in qualified agencies to get cash incentives – DBM

Metro Manila — Another round of Christmas bonuses for some government employees are going to be released, provided that their agency is taking part in cost-cutting measures.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said qualified government employees may expect to receive another cash incentive not earlier than December 15 this year.

The incentive will be taken from the collective negotiation agreement (CNA), the equivalent of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) in private firms.

“A CNA incentive may be granted to both management and rank-and-file employees with approved and successfully implemented CNAs,” Budget Secretary Ben Diokno said in his regular press briefing Wednesday.

The incentive will be available to both management and rank-and-file employees, but only if the agency meets the qualifications under the DBM’s circular.

“The CNA is a recognition of the worker’s efforts in accomplishing performance targets at lesser cost, and in attaining more efficient and viable operations through cost-cutting measures and systems improvements,” he said.

Diokno added the incentive amount government employees will get is not fixed, considering that the funds will depend on the amount of money saved from cost-cutting measures of the agency.

“We kind of stagger the release of the bonuses, so they don’t run out of money before Christmas,” Diokno said.

The CNA incentive is on top of the 14th month pay and cash bonuses government personnel will get.
