Fourth tranche of salary hike for gov’t workers out in February: DBM

The Department of Budget and Management on Friday said the scheduled fourth tranche of salary hike for government employees will be implemented in February.

In a statement, the DBM assured that the increase would be implemented upon the approval of the 2019 general appropriations act (GAA).

“With pronouncements from Congress that budget bill will be their top priority upon resumption next week, we expect the GAA to be signed first week February,” Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said.

The government is currently running on a reenacted budget, which does not cover salary increase for government workers, Diokno said.

The DBM said an additional hike is scheduled for 2020.

The passage of the 2019 national budget was delayed following allegations of “insertions” leveled at Diokno by House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. Diokno called the claims “illusory” and “not grounded on facts.”
