COMELEC Approves additional honoraria to select Teachers rendered extended service during election 2022

COMELEC grants and approves additional honoraria to select Teachers who rendered extended service during May 9, 2022 election.

The Department of Education (DepEd) is pleased with the approval of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to provide additional honoraria for selected teachers who gave their extra hours of service in its 2022 National and Local Elections. last May 9.

Through Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, of the Election Task Force Chair and Deputy Administrative Secretary Alain Del B. Pascua, DepEd immediately contacted the COMELEC on a proposal to provide appropriate and fair compensation for teachers who gave extended hours to elections due to issues with vote counting machine (VCM) and SD card.

By order of the COMELEC, poll workers will receive an additional P2000 honoraria in total. Although it is smaller than our original P3000 proposal, the Department is grateful to the Commission for listening to our call for the welfare of our teachers.

Going forward, DepEd will work diligently with the COMELEC and Congress in establishing a more beneficial Election-related provision for our teachers that is always committed to preserving the sanctity of the Filipino vote.
